Several initiatives have been developed to conserve the Amazon Forest, valuing and promoting the livelihood of populations to maintain their social reproduction. Conservation units, such as the Chico Mendes Extractive Reserve (RESEX), emerge as a way of solving problems related to the struggle for land ownership in the region and environmental issues arising from unsustainable activities, such as extensive livestock farming. This research evaluates multicriteria sustainability, based on the Social Carbon concept, at Chico Mendes RESEX, Acre, in 2023. It works with the Social Carbon methodology, instrumented from the Multicriteria Decision Support Analysis (MCDA), through field research comprising workshops and interviews with regional strategic actors. The sustainability criteria evaluated were Governance, Agronomic, Environmental, Economic, and Social. The research findings indicate that the Chico Mendes RESEX Multicriteria Sustainability Index (IMS) was 0.73, a proxy for a sustainable scale. In the field research, the IMS was validated with the Porongaba Seringal, whose value was 0.66, below the RESEX proxy, represented by the moderate sustainability scale for four of the five criteria evaluated. Only the Environmental Index performed close to the excellent level of maturity, highlighting the need for further environmental sustainability measures.
